Objectifs de l'événement

The purpose of this learning session on Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) is to deepen participants’ understanding of what VAWG is, how it manifests offline and online, why it persists, and what practical actions, support systems, and policy frameworks exist to prevent violence and support survivors in their own contexts, particularly within the AU Go Gal Innovation Capacity Building Initiative.

Arrière plan

This session has been designed to familiarize participants with different concept of Gender.

Objectifs d'apprentissage

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

  1. Define violence against women and girls and gender-based violence, and distinguish key forms such as physical, sexual, economic and psychological/emotional abuse.
  2. Identify common manifestations and patterns of VAWG across the life course, and recognise who is at greater risk and in which settings violence commonly occurs.
  3. Explain the root causes of VAWG, including gender inequality, discriminatory norms, and power imbalances at individual, community and societal levels.
  4. Describe the nature of technology-facilitated VAWG and how online and offline forms of violence are connected.
  5. Summarise the key impacts and costs of VAWG on individuals, families, communities and society, including health, social and economic consequences.
  6. Identify major global, regional and national frameworks and commitments to prevent and respond to VAWG.
  7. Map trusted people, services and community resources that can support survivors in their own context (such as helplines, shelters, health, legal and protection services).
  8. Access and share key EVAWG learning and self-help resources to continue strengthening their own practice beyond the session.
