Background

In today's fast-changing world, the ability to design and deliver high-quality training is a vital skill across every sector. This fundamentals-level, in-person Training of Trainers programme introduces participants to UNITAR's principles-based approach to training and learning design, grounded in adult-learning theory. By the end of the course, participants will be equipped to design, deliver, and evaluate impactful training within their own organizations.

Content and Structure

The programme follows a two-day structure combining concept learning, applied practice:

Module 1 - Foundations of Learning, Training Design & Content Development: Introduction to adult-learning principles; needs assessment and analysis of audience behaviours and preferences; developing training content and materials aligned to identified learning needs and objectives.

Module 2 - Facilitation Practice & Evaluation: Applied facilitation practice, peer coaching, and feedback; training evaluation methods; final assignment (recorded training, live demonstration, or in-person session); closing and certification.

Methodology

The programme follows a participatory, principles-based approach to training and learning design, grounded in adult-learning theory. Facilitation combines short input sessions with hands-on practice, peer coaching, and structured feedback, culminating in a practical exercise.

Targeted Audience

The programme is designed for participants across the private sector, public sector, civil society, academia, and other stakeholders, including newcomers to training as well as experienced trainers, educators, and facilitators looking to strengthen their foundational skills before pursuing more advanced training.
