Event Objectives

The webinar aimed to introduce the UNITAR core team, present the programme’s phases and methodology, explain the training content and criteria for progression, and provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions.

Background

The programme “Emergency Assistance for Women and Youth in Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon: Promoting Food, Economic Security, and Peace through Entrepreneurship” aims to empower young people in the three countries to address food insecurity and stimulate local employment. It does so by equipping them with entrepreneurial, technical, and innovation skills. The initiative is structured in three progressive phases: (1) a self-paced online training on entrepreneurship and food security, (2) advanced planning and project development, and (3) an intensive bootcamp for selected finalists to launch practical solutions. The programme is designed to reach 120,000 beneficiaries through direct training, peer exchanges, and partnerships. It emphasizes climate-smart agribusiness practices, public–private collaboration, and sustainable livelihoods to strengthen food systems and foster inclusive economic growth.

Content and Structure

The 12-month programme combines online training, mentoring, and a VentureLab in Japan, guiding participants from the fundamentals of entrepreneurship to advanced agribusiness strategy and project incubation.

Methodology

The event was delivered as a virtual webinar.

Targeted Audience

The programme engaged 524 motivated youth aged 18–40 from Egypt, Iraq, and Lebanon, selected through a thorough screening process from more than 600 applications.

Additional Information

A total of over 290 participants registered. However, many joined using mobile devices or tablets, making it difficult to accurately record their names in the EMS system.
