Objectifs du cours
  • Provide a comprehensive platform for senior officials to explore global trends in science and technology innovation, including emerging technologies and multilateral approaches, with a view to informing forward-looking policy development in Shanghai.
  • Facilitate the exchange of international experiences and best practices in designing and implementing science and technology innovation policies, particularly those that foster enabling environments for research, development, and commercialization.
  • Promote dialogue and collaboration with international partners, institutions, and experts to strengthen cross-border cooperation and access to global knowledge and resources.
  • Contribute to advancing innovation as a strategic driver of sustainable economic and social development at municipal and national levels.
Contexte

The Science, Technology, and Sustainable Development Training Programme for Senior Officials is an advanced leadership development initiative supported by the State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs and jointly organized by Shanghai-based partners in collaboration with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR). The programme is designed to cultivate senior leaders with a global outlook, recognized expertise, access to international networks, and strong strategic vision, thereby strengthening Shanghai’s capacity to advance as a globally influential hub for science and technology innovation.

During the study visit, participants from Shanghai will benefit from targeted capacity-building activities, gaining practical knowledge and international exposure. These experiences will contribute to reinforcing Shanghai’s sustainable development trajectory as a leading center of scientific and technological innovation, while fostering a globally minded pool of innovation professionals. The programme further promotes international exchange and cooperation, enhances Shanghai’s global competitiveness, and supports the city’s long-term sustainable development objectives.

Workshop and professional visits

Méthodologie

UNITAR training programmes are structured to be dynamic, interactive, and participant-centered. Whenever feasible, they incorporate simulation exercises, case studies, and diverse learning methodologies to support a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Practical examples and real-world case studies are provided to deepen participants’ knowledge and reinforce key concepts.
