Data Protection and Privacy
The personal data of participants applying for, registering for or participating in UNITAR's training courses and other events is governed by the Data Protection and Privacy Policy. By applying for, registering for or participating in this event, the participant acknowledges that he or she is, (or they are) aware of the policy and agree to its terms.

Telemedicine does not treat patients. It does, however, support healthcare professionals and patients by bridging the distance gap, thereby connecting patients and medical personnel and increasing access to higher-level care.

Given that UN missions have become more robust, it is important to establish connectivity between UN health facilities - Level 1- with access to specialists and diagnosticians not available in smaller settings.

In higher-level UN health facilities—Level 1+ and above—telemedicine can facilitate access to tertiary-level treatments by regular liaison with personnel in medical centres of excellence worldwide.

From medical and public health perspectives, telemedicine could also provide information for early warning of outbreaks.

This is an online, self-paced course for the Telemedicine (TM) Project for UN field missions, with the aim of upgrading the knowledge and skills required to use the telemedicine in your respective missions.

This course includes three (3) modules:

  1. Module 1: General overview of telemedicine
  2. Module 2: Examples of telemedicine use cases in UN peacekeeping missions
  3. Module 3: ICT and data security aspects of telemedicine

This self-paced online component is composed of three modules. Estimated time for completing all modules is 1 hour.

To successfully complete this online component, you will need to complete all modules and pass the Final Assessment (min. 80%). In addition to your full participation, you will be required to complete end of course feedback questionnaire to receive your certificate.
