
UN Force Medical Officers Course
Force Medical Officers (FMOs) play a vital role in UN peacekeeping missions, ensuring quality medical support in challenging environments. This course provides FMOs with a common understanding of UN medical support structures, policies, and operational parameters to enhance their leadership and readiness.
This course aims to prepare Force Medical Officers (FMOs) for the complex challenges of medical support in UN peacekeeping missions. Participants will gain practical skills in medical leadership, operational planning, and crisis response. Key objectives include mastering UN medical policies and procedures, enhancing rapid response to mass casualty incidents, and ensuring effective coordination of medical logistics. By the end of the course, FMOs will be equipped to provide high-quality, gender-sensitive healthcare and contribute to mission success through informed decision-making and operational efficiency.

This online course is designed to provide Force Medical Officers (FMOs) with flexible and engaging learning experiences. It includes interactive modules with scenario-based exercises. Participants progress through self-guided lessons, quizzes, and simulations to reinforce key concepts. The course features knowledge checks, practical decision-making challenges, and a mission simulator to apply skills in realistic UN field settings, ensuring readiness for medical leadership and crisis response.
The primary target audience for this course is incumbent Force Medical Officers (FMOs) in field missions and selected FMOs for their pre-deployment preparedness. Chief Medical Officer (CMO), Medical Unit Commanders, Senior Medical Officers and other key medical appointment holders in the CMO and FMO Cell may also benefit from the course.
