The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), in partnership with the Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations (IDRI) in Algeria, will have the great privilege to organise a Retreat for Directors of Arabic Diplomatic Academies and Institutes on the 12th and 13th of June 2019, in Algiers, Algeria.

This two-days Retreat, hosted by the Institute of Diplomacy and International Relations (IDRI) in Algeria, will be built around presentations given by world-class experts on trends relevant to the field of modern diplomacy. Professor Paul Berkman, from Tufts University, will be introducing and mediating the first session on Science Diplomacy. The second session, on Experiential Adult Learning, will be moderated by Mr. Jerome L’Host, from UNITAR. On the second day of the Retreat, Mr. Shaun Riordan, from the Netherlands Institute of International Relations, will be leading the session on Digital and Cyber Diplomacy. Each presentation will be followed by roundtables, through which participants will have the opportunity to share their knowledge, views and experiences on the corresponding topic.

This Retreat also aims at reinforcing exchanges between Arabic Diplomatic Academies and Institutes, and exploring areas of cooperation in the fields of training and research.
