Event Objectives
  • To strengthen understanding of the plasma value chain, from donation and collection to fractionation, regulation, distribution, and patient access.
  • To enhance awareness of donor health, safety, pathogen reduction, and product quality standards.
  • To promote evidence-based policy dialogue on sustainable plasma strategies and national self-sufficiency.
  • To facilitate multi-stakeholder engagement between governments, healthcare professionals, patient organizations, academia, and the private sector.
  • To support countries in strengthening regulatory frameworks, patient registries, and long-term supply planning for PDMPs.
  • To reduce inequalities in access to life-saving plasma-derived therapies through education and capacity-building.
Background

Plasma4Life is a global knowledge hub aiming to strengthen health systems by improving the accessibility, availability, and sustainable supply of plasma-derived medicinal products (PDMPs), which are essential for patients with rare and chronic conditions such as primary immunodeficiencies, hemophilia, and immune-mediated neurological disorders.

Despite their life-saving nature, PDMPs remain unequally available across regions due to fragmented policy approaches, limited awareness of the plasma value chain, regulatory complexity, insufficient donor engagement, and lack of coordinated multi-stakeholder dialogue. Plasma4Life addresses these gaps by providing a neutral, evidence-based platform that connects policymakers, healthcare professionals, patient organizations, regulators, academia, and industry stakeholders.

Content and Structure

Content is developed in collaboration with experts and partners to ensure scientific accuracy, regulatory relevance, and practical applicability. Rather than a single training intervention, Plasma4Life provides continuous access to curated knowledge, enabling users to engage according to their professional needs and national context.

Methodology

Plasma4Life applies a knowledge translation and systems-based methodology, combining:

  • Evidence-based scientific and policy content
  • Digital, self-paced access to resources
  • Visual learning tools to explain technical processes
  • Multi-stakeholder knowledge integration
  • Neutral and balanced presentation of complex policy issues

The methodology emphasizes accessibility, clarity, and policy relevance.

Targeted Audience

Policymakers and government officials, public health professionals, healthcare providers treating patients requiring PDMPs, patient advocacy organizations, researchers and academic institutions, regulatory and quality assurance professionals, supply chain and health systems planners.

The registration is closed.
