Calling all innovators! Where do you envision the future of the digital economy and what hurdles do you want to overcome? How would you embrace digital finance to strengthen our efforts in achieving inclusive and sustainable development? What challenges do you want to address?

As a part of the UNITAR Conference on Digital Finance, Leveraging The Digital Economy for Inclusive And Sustainable Economic Growth: Strategies to Overcome Risks and Harness Opportunities, UNITAR is hosting a hackathon on digital finance where participants from all sectors can bring their challenges to the table!

Registration is required to participate in the Hackathon. Please note that because this is an in-person event, registrations will go through a review and approval process.

The objective of this hackathon is to foster creativity, problem-solving, and awareness around the responsible development of solutions relating to the digital economy.

The hackathon also contributes to the overall objective of the conference: to inspire attendees to act in addressing the opportunities and challenges in the digital economy to strengthen our efforts in achieving inclusive and sustainable development.

With the objective of fostering creativity, problem-solving, and awareness around the responsible development of solutions relating to the digital economy, the hackathon will be organized as innovation challenges where participants work in groups to learn, network, and build solutions together.

The hackathon will take place over two days, February 15 and 16.

  • February 15: An opening ceremony will kick off the hackathon, followed an icebreaker exercise. Once teams organize into groups, they will work together to define goals and strategies that will set the foundation for the creative and innovative processes that follow. During this creative phase, groups will work together to develop and refine their innovative solutions.
  • February 16: The morning of 16 February will be spent preparing a pitch that will be presented. Additionally, each group will create a visual that will be displayed in the innovation showcase area during the cocktail reception. This pitch and showcase will provide participants with a tangible way to demonstrate their work and commitment to addressing challenges and opportunities in the digital economy space.

Please note, that a separate registration is required to attend the presentations and panel discussions in the afternoon – please register for this here - link to registration.

Everyone is encouraged to register, and you do not need to be an expert in digital finance or economics to have meaningful contributions. The hackathon will serve as an opportunity to meet others, exchange ideas, and gain a deeper understanding of digital finance technologies, trends, and their implications on the economy.

This hackathon is a part of the UNITAR Conference on Digital Finance, Leveraging The Digital Economy for Inclusive And Sustainable Economic Growth: Strategies to Overcome Risks and Harness Opportunities.
