Event Objectives

Facilitate workshop on the UN SDGs and conduct Advocacy Training in Environmental Health & Global Action.

Background

“Climate, Heat, Health & the Global Future” is a two-day (April 7-8) forum exploring the growing intersection of climate and human health. As rising temperatures, extreme heat, and shifting ecosystems intensify conditions linked to migraines, dengue, and malaria, Miami, Florida offers a real-world case study of how environmental change is already affecting public health. This program connects those local experiences with global health advocacy and the United Nations, bringing together leaders to identify solutions that protect communities both in the United States and around the world through the SDGs lens and framework. Themes that will be addressed on April 8th include environmental change, public health, and community impact. This session will focus on how environmental conditions, such as water systems, flooding, and climate-driven ecosystem changes, contribute to the spread of diseases like malaria and dengue, and how policy decisions at the national and global level shape responses to these challenges, particularly through the lens of the United Nations.
