Background

As part of the needs assessment exercise, UP-CIFAL Philippines will conduct a UP Sustainability Caravan in partnership with the UP System and its nine (9) constituent universities (CUs). With the theme, “Transforming the Future through Synergetic Sustainability,” the caravan aims to:  Enrich the knowledge of the participants about the history, principles, and other salient features of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 UN Agenda Inspire the participants on how they can implement the SDGs within their respective CU’s academic, research, and extension functions;  Motivate the participants to apply what they have learned through a workshop activity, and Identify and strengthen potential areas of cooperation between UP-CIFAL and the CUs towards sustainable development  The UP-CIFAL team will also conduct exploratory meetings with key CU officials to forge collaborations and strengthen the partnerships between UP-CIFAL and the CUs within the UP System. These meetings will consist of courtesy visits and meetings with key CU officials, and a campus tour that will showcase each CU’s SDG-related programs and facilities.  The results of the workshop sessions, as well as the findings of the exploratory meetings, will be compiled into a UP-CU Report, one for each Constituent University. Furthermore, they will serve as a basis for the eventual creation and establishment of an SDG Policy Framework and Roadmap for the whole UP System.
