Event Objectives

The objective of the Introduction to the SDGs Lecture Series is to inform local authorities, its stakeholders and citizens on Agenda 2030 and the SDGs. The events provide a good networking environment for local important stakeholders: civil society, academia, businesses, authorities and trade unions. It also aims to highlight local good practices and specific challenges for each region.

Background

Action Learning focuses on increasing learning capacity of executives in governments, organisations, businesses, civil society, trade unions, academia, etc., while responding to a real global challenge in a multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder approach. Critical peer-to-peer reflection is an important part of the experience. This experience of ‘exchange’ can generate new approaches across sectors, and help build systemic innovation and problem solving skills.

  • Introduction on Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development, the SDGs & SDG 11, and the New Urban Agenda
  • Importance of local action
  • Local good practices following the 5 P's of sustainable development
  • Smart city-concept: link between sustainability and smart technology
Methodology

The events will be delivered through lectures on Agenda 2030 and the SDGs, including local speakers, and a panel discussion with critical reflection on sustainable development related topics.
