Objectifs de l'événement

This briefing establishes UN system-wide policy orientation for development cooperation and country-level modalities of the UN system in response to the evolving international development cooperation environment.

Arrière plan

The changing global development landscape and the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development present both challenges and opportunities for the UN development system to translate ambitions into results on the ground. The 2016-2020 QCPR will be the tool to guide, assess and monitor UN operational activities for development and ensure a UN development system that is fit to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals. The 2016 Secretary-General’s report on QCPR aims to both assess progress in implementation of the 2012 QCPR resolution and point the way for a strategic and focused QCPR to be adopted in 2016.

Contenu et structure

This module will focus on the functions of the UNDS in the post-2015 world, to deliver on the ambitions of the universal and integrated nature of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The module will explore the new development landscape and the increasingly diverse capacities and needs of countries, e.g. MICs and fragile States, requiring a repositioning of the UNDS to provide the necessary targeted and tailored support. In this regard, the module will also explore the implications of the required post-2015 functions on organizational arrangements, capacity, impact and partnership approaches.
