CIFAL Malaga, Regional Initiative for Asia Football Confederation (AFC)

Antecedentes

The Asia Football Confederation (AFC), the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) and the Training Centre for Authorities and Leaders in Málaga (CIFAL Málaga) from the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), have established the internationally certified “Sport Safety and Security Training and Advanced Education Programme” for the benefit of AFC members and other relevant football stakeholders in Asia, regarding the safety and security of football competitions taking place on the Asia continent.

Objetivos del aprendizaje

The overall goal of the “Sport Safety and Security Training and Advanced Education Programme” is to enhance, develop, and strengthen the knowledge, skills, instincts, abilities, processes and resources of safety and security professionals across Asia. Participants will acquire new knowledge, develop skills, and join a network of peers from other countries in Asia and internationally which allow different forms of future mutual assistance and collaboration.

Contenido y estructura

The “Sport Safety and Security Training and Advanced Education Programme” has been structured into thirteen (13) interlinked courses which can be completed as a whole or independently depending on the interest and requirements of the participant. Each course has duration of fifteen (15) hours or learning which participants can complete over a three (3) week period. All courses are delivered online primarily in English.

Metodología

 All courses of the “Sport Safety and Security Training and Advanced Education Programme” are delivered primarily in English online via e-Learning using the ICSS’s Learning Management System (LMS). The participants are responsible for managing their own learning over three (3) week duration. Each course will include the following learning activities, which participants are required to complete: - Video Lectures: Using self-study, participants will have to complete a series of pre-recorded online video lectures covering the knowledge of facts and concepts of the course subject matter. Participants will be able to complete these video lectures on their Sport Safety and Security Training and Advanced Education Programme 5 own at their preferred pace and time of day which fits their schedule. The participants will be able to go back and review at any time the video lectures. - Live Guest Lectures: Supporting the video lectures, to further develop critical thinking, the participants will be required to attend a series of guest lectures on the specified course subject. These will be hosted in a live webinar session, on a specified date and time (generally in the last week of the course); facilitated by leading experts and professionals in the field of sports and safety and security. The purpose of these live webinar sessions is to provide real world experience, insight, and application on sport safety and security relevant to the course subject. Through these live webinars, participants will have the opportunity to be able to ask questions and engage in discussion with the guest lecturers. Live interpretation will be made available if required. - Course Knowledge Evaluation: Participants will then be required to complete a knowledge evaluation of the course subject matter. This will be based on the topics and subjects covered in the video lectures. Participants who successfully pass the course knowledge evaluation and meet the attendance requirements within the specified course timeline; will be awarded and internationally recognised certificate of completion.

Público objetivo

The courses are primarily intended for safety and security professionals from national football federations, national and local football leagues, as well as football clubs on the African continent. It is also addressed to other professionals located on the African continent interested in transitioning into the football safety and security industry.
