Objetivos del evento
The event aims to analyze the situation of the Amazigh language in Melilla and Europe, promote its recognition in the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, and highlight its importance as a cultural heritage. It also seeks to raise awareness about its protection and inclusion as a Spanish language, as well as to discuss the impact of the Charter on European linguistic diversity.
Antecedentes
The European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages promotes the protection and promotion of languages used by traditional minorities. These languages are part of Europe’s Cultural Heritage, and their protection and promotion contribute to the construction of a democratic and diverse Europe.
In July 2014, the Assembly of Melilla recognized Amazigh as an inseparable part of the Intangible Cultural Heritage shared by all Melilla citizens.
This event will provide an opportunity to learn about and discuss the current state of the Amazigh language and culture in Melilla and other parts of Europe, the efforts to include it as a Spanish language under the Charter, and, more broadly, the significance, scope, and implications of the Charter in the European context.
