CIFAL Istanbul visited Yenice Secondary School in Darende, Malatya, one of the regions affected by the February 6, 2023 earthquakes, to introduce children to science while offering moral support and encouragement. The visit aimed to provide students with an engaging learning experience through interactive experiments and creative activities. By integrating hands-on scientific exploration with emotional connection, the event sought to inspire curiosity and bring moments of joy to children whose lives had been disrupted by the disaster.

Introduce children to the practical applications of science through hands-on experiments. Foster creativity and scientific curiosity in an engaging way. Provide moral support and encouragement to children affected by the earthquake. Create a positive and interactive learning environment to inspire confidence and resilience.

The event was structured around two interactive science workshops designed to make scientific principles both accessible and engaging for students. In the first session, students participated in a hands-on activity where they created natural hand sanitizers using essential oils and vinegar, demonstrating the practical applications of chemistry in daily life. The second session took place in the schoolyard, where students engaged in experimental science activities that encouraged exploration and creativity. In addition to the workshops, volunteers spent time talking, playing games, and organizing activities, ensuring a supportive and interactive environment that combined education with emotional well-being.

The event was based on an interactive workshop format, combining science experiments and informal engagement to spark curiosity and provide emotional support in a dynamic and enjoyable setting.
