Data Protection and Privacy
The personal data of participants applying for, registering for or participating in UNITAR's training courses and other events is governed by the Data Protection and Privacy Policy. By applying for, registering for or participating in this event, the participant acknowledges that he or she is, (or they are) aware of the policy and agree to its terms.

At the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Locate relevant resources for the analysis of conflicts;
  • Compile information and data on a conflict for the purpose of conflict analysis;
  • Recognize latent and observable causes of conflict;
  • Differentiate between structural and proximate causes of conflict as well as triggers and catalysts;
  • Apply various conflict analysis tools and evaluate their strengths and weaknesses;
  • Identify actors in conflict as well as the role that they play;
  • Distinguish actors that contribute to the resolution of conflicts;
  • Identify the role that ethnic and religious motives may play in conflicts;
  • Trace the dynamics of conflict;
  • Identify the build-up phase, the outbreak of violence and the existence of a deadlock;
  • Distinguish signs of ripeness and potential dynamics of de- escalation;
  • Analyze the key phases of a conflict;
  • Identify the ways in which responses to a conflict can fuel hostilities;
  • Develop scenarios regarding the evolution of a conflict;
  • List strategic and programmatic recommendations for responding to a conflict;
  • Point to the different ways in which women and men are affected by conflict;
  • Identify the different levels of gender- sensitivity.

UNITAR recommends the following as a minimum in hardware and software to take our e-Learning courses. Please consult your Network Administrator or Systems person to ensure that you have the following: 

 

Hardware requirements

- Desktop or laptop computer with Windows 10 or MacOS version 11 and later

- Tablet or mobile devices are not fully supported on some course tools

- Stable LAN or Wifi Internet connection

- Latest version of Mozilla Firefox (download for free at https://www.mozilla.org)

- Latest version of Google Chrome (download for free at https://www.google.com/chrome)

- Microsoft Edge or Safari (included in your computer)

 

Other software

- PDF reader (download for free at https://get.adobe.com/uk/reader)

- Microsoft Office for Windows or MacOS  (compatible software can be downloaded at http://www.openoffice.org/)

- Video player (Quicktime for MacOS, Windows Media Player or compatible video player)

- Anti-virus

 

Other requirements

- Disable Pop-up blockers

- Enable cookies and java

- webcam and audio headset for courses that will require online meetings

- additional storage in case you need to download course materials
