The personal data of participants applying for, registering for or participating in UNITAR's training courses and other events is governed by the Data Protection and Privacy Policy. By applying for, registering for or participating in this event, the participant acknowledges that he or she is, (or they are) aware of the policy and agree to its terms.

Bridging gaps between theory and practice is essential to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. To this end, public policies are the formal means for landing obligations embeded in legal frameworks, as well as those voluntary commitments from different sources at the national and international level. Policies allow the cohesion and articulation of strategies to undertake concrete actions with impact on the collective welfare.

Therefore, the active participation of all actors involved is important to identify knots and points of convergence for strengthening synergies and achieve common goals. The creation of dialogue spaces represents an opportunity to enhance capabilities and share good practices towards a culture of learning. It allows fostering the competences required by policymakers and practitioners to face different challenges through constructive responses.

As the governments of South Africa, Uganda and Seychelles are developing National Entrepreneurship Strategies (NES), this virtual session aims to promote a better understanding of the importance of facilitating entrepreneurship for sustainable development. It will also aim to highlight the different policy objectives of these three countries and the contribution of entrepreneurship strategies to these objectives. Under the framework of this event, the e-learning course on “Policy making for sustainable entrepreneurship” will be launched.

During the session, representatives of South Africa, Uganda and Seychelles will discuss the development of their respective entrepreneurship strategies and share the lessons learned.
• The importance of contextualizing entrepreneurship
• How issues related to COVID-19 are integrated in their respective framework
• The importance of the participatory process and inter-ministerial linkages in the development of strategies

The virtual session will be conducted as a Davos-style panel discussion, facilitated by a moderator and involving a group of panelists, with a time dedicated for discussion with the audience.

The event is open to all and is targeting relevant entrepreneurship stakeholders, with a particular focus on the following groups:

- Public sector officials;
- International organization;
- Representatives from the private sector, including MSMEs;
- The academia;
- Civil Society representatives.
