To strengthen participants’ capacity to communicate confidently, clearly, and persuasively in a wide range of professional settings by developing practical public speaking, presentation, and audience engagement skills. The workshop will equip participants with effective techniques to structure and deliver compelling messages, build confidence, and communicate with greater impact across diverse audiences.

Effective public speaking is an essential professional competency across a wide range of sectors and career fields. The ability to communicate ideas clearly, present with confidence, engage diverse audiences, and convey messages in a persuasive and compelling manner is increasingly important in professional environments, whether delivering presentations, participating in meetings, leading discussions, or representing an organization.
In line with its commitment to strengthening professional capacities, the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) Division for Multilateral Diplomacy in New York proposes a specialized one full day of Public Speaking Skills, led by Elizabeth Colton, Ph.D. The workshop will provide participants with an opportunity to strengthen their public speaking and communication skills through expert instruction and practical exercises, delivered in an international and professional environment.

By the end of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- Strengthen their public speaking skills.
- Develop greater confidence, presence, and effectiveness when speaking to diverse audiences.
- Apply techniques for structuring and delivering clear, persuasive, and impactful messages.
- Respond confidently and effectively to questions, feedback, and challenging speaking situations.

- Foundations of Effective Public Speaking
- Speaking with Influence and Impact
方法
The methodology will encourage active participation, self-reflection, and peer learning, creating a supportive environment in which participants can build confidence and refine their communication techniques. The specific exercises and activities will be further developed in consultation with the trainer.
目标受众
The workshop is open to professionals and individuals from diverse sectors who wish to strengthen their public speaking and presentation skills. This includes, but is not limited to, diplomats, government officials, international organization and NGO representatives, private-sector professionals, academics, students, and other stakeholders.
The programme is suitable for participants at different stages of their careers and from a range of professional backgrounds, particularly those whose roles require them to present ideas, engage audiences, lead discussions, represent their organizations, or communicate effectively in professional settings.

By applying to this Workshop, all participants confirm that they are aware that the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) does not insure participants for this course. All participants are advised to arrange at their own expense insurance against sickness, accident, permanent or temporary disability, death and third party risk for the period of the meeting including travel time.
Certificate:
Participants who have attended all the sessions will receive a certificate of participation.
