The webinar aimed to welcome participants, clarify the purpose and expected outcomes of the programme, explain the three-phase learning journey, introduce the SafetyCulture learning platform, and ensure that learners understood participation requirements, timelines, available support and certification criteria. It also created an initial space for participants to ask questions and connect with the programme team.

The onboarding webinar for UNITAR RISE-LAB 2026: Co-creating Sustainable Agricultural and Livelihood Solutions Through Training and Capacity Building was held online on 8 July 2026. The session formally introduced 221 selected participants to the programme, its Phase One learning journey, the RISE-LAB team and the digital learning environment. Designed for conflict-affected women and internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Sudan, the programme supports practical skills development in entrepreneurship, food security, agribusiness and sustainable livelihoods.

By the end of the webinar, participants were expected to understand the purpose and structure of RISE-LAB 2026; identify the main topics and outputs of Phase One; access and navigate the SafetyCulture platform; understand how to complete online lessons, join discussion forums and submit assignments; and recognize the requirements for successful completion and progression to later phases.

The session included welcome remarks from Ms Chisa Mikami, Head of the UNITAR Hiroshima Office; opening remarks from RISE LAB team; a programme and course overview; an introduction to SafetyCulture by Sabahuddin Sokout; a question-and-answer session; and closing remarks from Ms Margaret Nduta. The Phase One learning flow was presented, covering food security and value chains, entrepreneurial mindset, problem identification, sustainable enterprise development, financial management, digital entrepreneurship and the final assignment.
方法
The event was delivered as a live, interactive Zoom webinar in English and Arabic to increase accessibility for vulnerable participants. Presentations, platform demonstrations and question-and-answer exchanges were used to orient learners. The broader Phase One methodology combines short self-paced microlessons, downloadable content for offline learning, videos, live webinars, practical activities, extra resources and peer engagement through discussion forums. Participants are expected to dedicate approximately two to six hours per week.
目标受众
The webinar was intended for the 221 selected participants from Sudan, primarily conflict-affected women and internally displaced persons, including aspiring and existing entrepreneurs, agricultural producers and individuals seeking to strengthen household livelihoods and community food security. Programme content is provided in English and Arabic to extend access to participants with different language needs.

The programme is delivered by UNITAR’s Division for Prosperity through the RISE-LAB team and is funded by the Government and People of Japan. The onboarding webinar and learning content reflect an inclusive, low-bandwidth approach, with support from UNITAR alumni from Arabic-speaking countries, field practitioners and international experts. The activity contributes to UNITAR Strategic Objectives 1, 2 and 3 by strengthening individual capacities, responding to urgent national food-security and livelihood priorities, and creating a connected learning ecosystem through bilingual digital learning, peer exchange, expert engagement and continued progression into applied training and mentorship.
