In the run-up to the annual climate conference in Paris, December 2015, SDC and UN CC:Learn are providing a forum for youth both in Switzerland and UN CC:Learn’s partner countries to share their views about climate change, both as a local and a global issue.

• Strengthen understanding among youth of the causes and effects of climate change in different locations around the world
• Facilitate a dialogue between youth in different countries on what climate change means for their personal lives
• Create momentum and public visibility for the issue of climate change in the run up to COP 21 in Paris, December 2015
• Provide visibility to what Switzerland is doing to support developing countries in promoting climate change education

The second of these events will take place in La-Tour-de-Peilz between on the 18th November and will feature a debate and a video conference dialogue between La-Tour-de-Peilz high-school and a school in a Niamey – Niger (group age 16-20) about how youth perceive climate change, how it affects their lives, and what actions they consider most important. The event will be accompanied by a 3 day photo exhibit organized by “La Fondation pour le development durable des regions de montagne” (FDDM) that illustrates the causes and consequences of climate change through the issue of glacier melting.

The students participating in the initiative will be requested to undertake one or two modules of the UN CC:Learn Introductory Course on Climate Change developed by UNITAR.
