Background

The UNITAR SDGs and Digital Futures: Changemaking Through AI and Digital Storytelling programme was launched to equip young changemakers in Hiroshima and across Asia with the skills and tools to harness emerging technologies for social good. Through a hybrid format combining online training, mentoring, and an in-person session in Hiroshima, participants developed powerful digital narratives addressing pressing global challenges such as climate action, gender equality, education and peace.

As part of the final phase of this initiative, the Judging Session and Closing Ceremony will serve as a culmination of participants’ creative journey. This session provides an opportunity for participants to showcase their final digital storytelling projects before a panel of judges, receive constructive feedback, and celebrate their accomplishments.

During this event, judges will evaluate the submitted projects based on creativity, relevance to the SDGs, and storytelling impact. The top three projects will be selected and announced, advancing to the Microsoft x UNITAR Showcase: “Building Peace, Block by Block” to be held the following week.

This milestone marks both a reflection on the participants’ learning experiences and a celebration of the collective efforts to explore how digital storytelling and AI can promote peace, inclusion, and sustainable development.

The 4 principal attainment targets are to: -
