Event Objectives

Background

The 2025 Life Sciences South Florida (LSSF) STEM Undergraduate Research Symposium is an annual event that celebrates innovation and collaboration in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. Hosted by Florida International University in partnership with Life Sciences South Florida, CIFAL Miami, and Nova Southeastern University, the symposium provides a platform for undergraduate students to showcase their research, connect with academic and industry professionals, and explore opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and career growth.

Content and Structure

The symposium includes keynote presentations, student oral and poster presentations, interactive workshops, and an award ceremony. The event will begin with a Breakfast and Networking session, offering participants the opportunity to connect and exchange ideas in an informal setting. The program will then continue with Opening and Keynote Remarks, setting the tone for the day’s discussions. Next, students will showcase their work through Oral and Poster Presentations, highlighting innovative research projects. Attendees will then enjoy Lunch and Workshops focused on Research Entrepreneurship, encouraging collaboration and creativity. The event will conclude with an Award Ceremony and Closing Remarks, recognizing outstanding contributions and celebrating the day’s achievements.

Methodology

The event combines plenary sessions, student-led research presentations, and applied learning workshops. Through experiential and peer learning, participants exchange knowledge, receive expert feedback, and explore the practical applications of their research.

Undergraduate STEM students, faculty mentors, academic researchers, and professionals from universities, research centers, and industry partners in South Florida.
