Objetivos del evento

To strengthen pathways for Indigenous Peoples’ meaningful representation at the United Nations by highlighting the role of legal education, capacity-building, and institutional partnerships, and to advance understanding and implementation of Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) within UN processes.

Antecedentes

The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), the UN’s training arm, empowers stakeholders through capacity-building and learning. In collaboration with the University of Kansas and the University of Utah Schools of Law, this event explores pathways to enhance Indigenous Peoples’ representation at the United Nations. It highlights legal education, partnerships, and capacity-building to support meaningful participation and advance Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC), strengthening inclusive and effective global decision-making.
