CIFAL Honolulu-Sustainable Open Marketplace
Chaminade University of Honolulu hosts a campus-made, campus-inspired Open Market Place every semester that provides a space for Chaminade University ʻohana to sell their hand-made crafts, as well as local vendors to sell their delicious foods. Sister Malia Wong, organizer of the Open Market, is motivated by "Chaminade's commitment to transform the world through "Care for the ʻĀina (land) , Care for the Self"". ʻĀina provides everything needed to survive physically, emotionally, and spirtually. Therefore, it is important that we respect and mālma (care) the ʻāina. Through the marketplace, visitors are able to learn about mālama ʻāina through the eyes of the different sustainable entrepreneurs.
