This course entitled ‘Enhancing Safety and Security at Stadia and Sports Facilities’ is a course based on international best practices in the field of sports safety and security delivered by the International Centre for Sport Security (ICSS) in line with the guidance received by the Saudi Ministry of Sport for stadia and sports facilities managers.

This course aims to promote a common language within the context of delivering safe, secure, and enjoyable sporting events, including but not limited to Major Sporting Events (MSEs), to provide participants with an understanding of key strategic matters from the perspective of safety, security, and service. This workshop will enhance, develop, and strengthen their professional knowledge, skills, instincts, abilities, processes, and resources all to ensure safe, secure, and enjoyable events hosted in stadiums and sports facilities.  The course is centered within the context of football matches and other competitions of comparable stature hosted in stadiums and sports facilities. The content has been designed and developed based on FIFA and AFC guidelines, advanced research, and best practices in sports safety and security in different regional contexts and sports.

Day 1:  Session 1 – Welcome and Introduction. Session 2 – Foundations of Safety, Security and Service. Session 3 – Size and Scope of Sporting Events, a Magnifier on Major Sporting Event Session 4 – Guest Speaker Day 1: This session was facilitated online by one of the Guest Speakers providing information on relevant international frameworks and their concrete experiences.  Day 2: Session 1 – Operational Planning Framework. Session 2 – Safety and Security Roles and Responsibilities. Session 3 – Safety and Security Documentation. Session 4 – Guest Speaker Day 2: This session was facilitated online by one of the Guest Speakers providing information on relevant international frameworks and their concrete experiences.  Day 3  Session 1 – Command and Control. Session 2 – Incident Response and Crisis Management. Session 3 – Crowd Management. Session 4 – Guest Speaker Day 3:  This session was facilitated online by one of the Guest Speakers providing information on relevant international frameworks and their concrete experiences.

This course was delivered to the students in English with live Arabic Interpretation in a face-to-face classroom learning environment facilitated by two (2) ICSS instructors where they will provide interactive and engaging learning activities.

The workshop was specific to 19 candidates nominated by the Saudi Ministry of Sport.
