The changing global development landscape and the new 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development present both challenges and opportunities for the UN development system to translate ambitions into results on the ground. The 2016-2020 QCPR will be the tool to guide, assess and monitor UN operational activities for development and ensure a UN development system that is fit to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals. The 2016 Secretary-General’s report on QCPR aims to both assess progress in implementation of the 2012 QCPR resolution and point the way for a strategic and focused QCPR to be adopted in 2016.

This briefing establishes UN system-wide policy orientation for development cooperation and country-level modalities of the UN system in response to the evolving international development cooperation environment.

This module will discuss the operational implications to deliver on the ground a universal and unified development agenda requiring an integrated and tailored response to the increasingly diversified needs and priorities of countries. This module will cover:(a) DAO approach (b)UNDAF process (c)UN Resident Coordinator system (d)Simplification and harmonization efforts for business practices The module will discuss challenges and opportunities to ensure a UNDS that is “fit-for- purpose”.
