WHAT IS THE CLIMATE CLASSROOM?

Staying on top of the latest climate developments is essential to making timely and effective climate decisions. Yet finding the time and space to follow everything that is going on at climate meetings can often feel like an impossible task. The Climate Classroom aims to cut through the noise by offering a short, interactive learning experience that is designed to help those attending or following these meetings get quickly up-to-speed on important climate topics. This particularly includes delegates and professionals from African countries, Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Landlocked Developing Countries, and those from under-represented groups.

THE CLIMATE CLASSROOM @ COP28

The Climate Classroom @ COP28 will be the initiative’s 11th edition. Like in Sharm El Sheikh the Climate Classroom @ COP28 will be delivered in a fully online format and broadcast live on Zoom to both those on site and those following at home.

Each 45-minute class should allow for content delivery, examples/illustrations, and an open discussion at the end. While previous editions have avoided following a typical ‘lecture-based’ style the online nature of this year’s edition means the use of presentations and other communication tools is strongly encouraged. Guidance on the use of these is provided in the following sections.

The Climate Classroom @ COP28 will have a dedicated website containing general information about The Climate Classroom initiative, the programme of specific classes being delivered, the teachers delivering these, and providing links to complimentary learning resources for those interested in engaging with the topic after the class. Feedback will be collected by means of a short online evaluation form that will be shared with learners after each class.
