Ecuador has also developed a broad technical base that supports the need to establish, from the subnational level, strategies and mechanisms of territorial management that guarantee compliance with the principles of representativeness, sustainability,

ecosystem integrity and functionality. In this sense, sub-national and local actors are increasingly demanding a leading role to achieve global goals. With the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the 2030 Agenda.

Promote the role of subnational governments in the protection and conservation of biodiversity in the post-2020 global framework, as well as strengthen the exchange of experiences and good practices.

The event covers the following topics:

  • First day theme: The role of subnational governments in the Post-202 Global Biodiversity Framework.
  • Topic second day: Topic: Actions of subnational and local governments in the management of biodiversity.
  • Third day theme: Biodiversity and its contribution to the adaptation and mitigation of climate change.
  • Fourth day theme: The era of pandemics, its link with the loss of biodiversity and the transition to a sustainable future

The dialogue is expected to take 4 days, with the intervention of five panelists who address different topics each day, with a maximum of 3 hours. The zoom platform will be used.
