Digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence (AI) interact with diplomacy along three axes: agency, process and subject matter. This workshop will explore how digital technologies and AI impact and change the agents of diplomacy, including facilitating the participation of new actors in international debates.
As challenges threatening universal human values intensify—including climate change, poverty and inequality, armed conflicts, and ethical issues arising from AI advancement—there is a growing urgency for societal innovation promoting peace and shared prosperity.
This briefing inaugurates the 2025 series and represents the first joint initiative between UNITAR and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), convened under the auspices of the AI Skills Coalition.
