The ‘Teaching and Learning for the 21st Century’  will provide to the new and seasoned educators with the necessary information and tools about the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda for not only to understand but also to incorporate it within their classrooms

‘Teaching and Learning for the 21st Century’ for new and seasoned educators to equip them with the essential tools and fresh insights to elevate their teaching and enhance student success.

• Explain the University’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda. 

• Identify each of the 5 pillars of teaching and learning and recall their key components and principles. 

• Explain the role of each pillar in supporting effective teaching and student learning. 

• Discuss how these pillars interrelate to create a cohesive teaching approach. 

• Demonstrate the ability to apply strategies from each pillar by developing a sample lesson plan that incorporates effective planning, instructional techniques, assessments, and classroom management approaches. 

• Identify the core D2L course management features, such as course setup, content organization, gradebook configuration, and communication tools. 

• Explain how each course management feature contributes to an organized and accessible online learning environment for students. 

• Demonstrate proficiency in organizing course materials by uploading content, setting up modules, and configuring course navigation to enhance usability and accessibility for students. 

 

 

Session 1: Welcome and Introduction 

In this session, participants will be welcomed and introduced to the University of Doha for Science & Technology (UDST) ‘Teaching and Learning for the 21st Century’ training session.  

Participants will be introduced to the goal, purpose and learning outcomes of the course. 

 

Session 2: UDST Commitment to Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda 

In this session, participants will learn about the United Nations 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals. Participants will understand the commitment of the University of Doha for Science & Technology is making to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. 

 

Session 3: Pillars of Successful Teaching and Learning at UDST 

In this session, participants will learn about experiential learning principles and the pillars of highly effective instructor. This includes communication skills, experiential learning, positive student-teacher relationships, classroom management, and student engagement and motivation. 

 

Session 4: Planning and Designing Assessments 

In this session, participants will learn how to plan and design assessments included the purpose, types, and examples, along with alignment to Bloom's Taxonomy. 

 

Session 5: Supporting Teaching and Learning with Technology 

In this session, participants will be introduced to the technology and resources available via a Learning Management System (LMS), as well as other teaching and learning technologies available. 

 

Session 6: Training Session Evaluation 

In this session, participants will be required to complete a knowledge evaluation of the topics covered in the training session in the form of a written examination. Participants will also complete presentations showcasing their work from the group activities and a short feedback survey for continuous improvement purposes. 

 

Session 7: Wrap-up and Q & A 

This session will conclude the training session and provide a summary of what the participants have learned and accomplished during the training session and the next steps. A dedicated Q & A session will be provided for the participants to ask any further questions they may have.

  • The training session will be delivered in a face-to-face learning environment in a classroom setting at UDST. 

Instruction will be delivered to the participants through several instruction methods, including: 

• Presentations 

• Demonstrations 

• Guided Discussions 

• Case Studies 

• Scenarios 

• Exercises 

  • At the end of the training session, the participants are required to complete a knowledge evaluation of the lessons of that day in the form of a written examination. 

Participants must obtain a minimum score of 75% to successfully pass the knowledge evaluation. 

  • In addition to completing the knowledge assessment, the participants must attend 75% of the classroom sessions:

  • If the participant has passed the knowledge evaluation and has attended 75% of the classroom sessions, the participant will have access to  download or be sent the CIFAL Málaga-UNITAR Certificate of Completion, which certifies that they have satisfactorily acquired the training session content.
  • If the participant does not pass the final evaluation and has attended 75% of the classroom sessions, the participant will have access to download or be sent the CIFAL Málaga-UNITAR Certificate of Participation, which accredits having completed the course.
  • In all other cases, the participant will not be able to obtain any type of certificate. 

 

  • Needs for the Development of the Training Action 

• One (1) fully equipped classroom including desk and chairs setup in groups capable of hosting a capacity of twenty (20) participants. 

• One (1) computer for trainers 

• One (1) projector and one (1) screen 

• One (1) whiteboard with a set of multi-coloured markers 

• Multiple flipcharts and multi-coloured markers 

• One (1) area to setup scenarios and practical exercises if required. 

• Any additional general requirements
