多边外交
背景信息
Vienna is a prominent location in the heart of Europe, which accommodates representations of a large number of international organizations. As the seat of more than 40 international organizations, about 130 diplomatic representations – both bilateral and multilateral – with around 3,800 diplomats and more than 6,000 international officials, Vienna is a hub of international diplomacy. Above all, the city is known all over the world as one of just four major office sites of the United Nations.
In this context, UNITAR, in partnership with the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs, is offering a two-day briefing for diplomats based in Vienna. This programme is specifically designed to equip newly appointed diplomats with a deeper understanding of Vienna's multilateral working environment and to provide insights into the United Nations system, its mechanisms, and procedural frameworks.

- Understand the structure and role of the United Nations system in Vienna;
- Define the principles, mandates, and operational frameworks of international organizations in Vienna;
- Apply knowledge of diplomatic protocol and engagement strategies when interacting with representatives from key international organizations in Vienna;
- Establish and expand a professional network of contacts within Vienna’s multilateral working environment.
