Background

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

The 17 SDGs are integrated—that is, they recognize that action in one area will affect outcomes in others, and that development must balance social, economic and environmental sustainability.

 

Event Objectives

This seminar is aimed to discuss strategies and best practices of the cities of Malaga and Dakhla to achieve the 17 SDGs of the 2030 Agenda by discussing the development plan followed by the city of Malaga, based in the principles of an advanced and decentralized democracy which has led the city to become an significant business hub in the southern region of Spain.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Design a set of policies in the areas of health, education, housing, access to services and cultural activities, transport and entertainment to address challenges experienced in the region
  • Be able to identify the 17 SDGs and their targets

 

Content and Structure

The seminar is comprised of 2 lecutres followed by a Q&A session.
