Background

Brazil faces educational dilemmas that have caused direct consequences on the economy. One consequence is the lack of qualified professionals in specific areas such as Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM), which interferes with the levels of innovation and expansion of businesses.
However, even smaller than the number of qualified STEAM professionals in strategic sectors of economy, is the number and the prominence of STEAM women in courses and jobs that are related to innovation and technology.
As important as stimulating STEAM careers to promote development is to stimulate gender equality in knowledge production and innovation, and to recognize the action of women in Science.
In this sense, CIFAL Curitiba proposes to create spaces to know STEAM women and present their careers to the students of Sesi Schools, in order to give visibility to STEAM women and to stimulate girls to follow their studies in this area.

To foster the interest of girls in these careers, and

To promote the infographic contest “Women in Science”.
