Background

Sustainability, in all its dimensions, has been an increasing important issue in the whole world. Countries have been stimulated to think on development from perspectives that consider environment, economic and social aspects. One of the results of this concern is the set of 17 Sustainable Development Goals to be achieved by the countries until 2030. However, in order to implement an effective plan to meet these goals, it is necessary that governments, private sector and the civil society be aware about the local realities and needs of their countries. In this sense, indicators are an important tool to understand local contexts in order to create effective action plans.
