Background

In line with the global effort to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, a  series of discussions on effective SDGs implementation have been taking place in Korea. Throughout the discussions, it has been stressed that there is a need to work and improve coherence in the analysis and the policy-making. There is an increasing demand for more comprehensive discussions at national, regional and global levels.

Event Objectives

The seminar will provide participants with an opportunity to reflect on the limitations and future directions for SDGs implementation, as well as on the establishment of a local response system. In addition, they will explore various capacity building efforts in TVET ( Technical and Vocational Education and Training) programs and different localization models. 

Learning Objectives

At the end of the seminar, participants will be able to:

  • Describe main issues around the SDGs nationally and globally
  • Evaluate national implementation initiatives related to the SDGs
  • Identify trends regarding SDGs implementation in TVET programs

Content and Structure

The Seminar will address the following:

  • Ongoing SDGs discussions in Korea
  • Trends in SDGs implementation in TVET programs
  • Sustainable community development model: Jeju Olle’s sister track construction project
  • Policies for positive SDGs implementation

Methodology

The seminar will be delivered through  presentations and discussions led by experts and practitioners. UNITAR’s 'CityShare' methodology will be used to facilitate knoledge exchange amongst representatives from developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region.

Targeted Audience

The audience will be comprised of Korean experts in the field of TVET programs, capacity-building training and other related fields.
