Background

The ability of SMEs to access funding is key to increase investments, ensure business growth and facilitate new businesses.

For most SMEs, financing is not directly provided by banks through traditional loans. Leasing has become an important financing technique for SMEs to expand their access to short and medium-term financing for capital investments. The benefits of using lease finance include: the possibility to finance 100% of the purchase price of an asset without having to offer any supplementary guarantees which would otherwise be an additional burden for the company seeking financing, allowing companies to manage their capital by spreading payments over the life of the asset. Leasing as a financing technique can be used in public companies as well.

The main objective of the workshop is to provide participants the basic knowledge related to alternatives forms of financing public investments by looking at different models used by SMEs.
