Background

As the electronic information age approaches, electronic waste pollution has become a major issue worldwide. According to statistics, the electronic waste of the world amounts to half its new electronic products every year. China becomes the biggest producing and consuming country of electronic appliance. The replacement of the old electronic appliances are anticipated to reach peak. The domestic electronic waste together with that imported from some western developed countries is compelling China to enter into an electronic waste peak period. 
 
As a national economic center and a window for China's reform and opening-up, Shanghai has achieved breakthrough in waste re-utilization; large-scale dismantling technology of electronic waste is sophisticated and its industrialization is formed. 

Event Objectives

China-aid Training Course is aimed to help developing country build capacity, consolidate friendship, and promote economic development. 

Learning Objectives

Participants will be completely and objectively aware of the developing status of environment protection and waste recycling and re-utilization in China.

The seminar is believed to further promote economic and technical cooperation in the field of environment protection and urban development between China and the participating countries, and to deepen the friendship among developing countries.

Content and Structure

 CIFAL Shanghai has arranged abundant courses and lectures covering the following topics:

  • Environment Friendly Material in IT Industry
  • Evaluation and Planning for Environment Quality

Participants will have opportunities of study tours to Hubei Province and Zhejiang Province to visit national model enterprises of e-waste disposal, and to learn different ways in dealing with e-wastes in different cities of China.

Methodology

Through integration of theoretical and practical seminar, such as thematic lectures, special subjects, free discussion and spot investigation, participants will be introduced to China’s practice and achievements in the field of waste electrical and electronic equipment management, reuse of renewable resources and environment protection.

Officials engaged in management and research of renewable resources and environment, officials and experts undertaking the relevant work on waste electrical and electronic equipment from Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand.
