Background

Uganda is one of five pilot countries that implement a UN CC:Learn Project on Strengthening Human Resources and Skills to Address Climate Change in 2011-2013. The projects aim at supporting countries in taking a strategic and results-oriented approach to climate change learning. The project in Uganda is coordinated through a National Coordination Mechanism bringing together different Government sectors, national universities, private sector and civil society organizations. Through a multi-stakeholder and multi-sectoral process the country developed a National Strategy to Strengthen Human Resources and Skills to Address Climate Change. The Strategy is launched by the Minister of Water and Environment at a high-level event at the Common Wealth Resort Hotel Munyonyo.
