Background
Organized by CIFAL Miami with the support of UNITAR, this regional learning event builds on the Community-Port Resilience Program (C-PReP), an initiative launched in 2012 to strengthen disaster preparedness and emergency response capacities across airports, ports, and surrounding communities.
Event Objectives
Over two days, participants will engage in expert presentations, interactive discussions, case studies, and peer-to-peer knowledge exchange focused on:
- Airport and port emergency preparedness
- Emergency operations coordination and governance
- Humanitarian logistics and supply chain resilience
- Crisis communications and public information management
- Operational continuity and recovery planning
- Community engagement and multi-sector collaboration
- Technology, innovation, and early warning systems
- Regional cooperation and lessons learned from recent emergencies
Content and Structure
The seminar will bring together airport authorities, emergency management professionals, government representatives, humanitarian organizations, academia, and private sector leaders to share operational experiences, best practices, and practical tools that strengthen resilience across Latin America and the Caribbean.
