Background
● Within the framework of actions aimed at strengthening the institutional capacities of local governments in the area of occupational risk prevention, the Dominican Municipal League, in coordination with UN/CIFAL Dominican Republic and the Dominican Institute for Prevention and Protection against Occupational Risks (IDOPPRIL), developed a national day of Regional Training Workshops on Occupational Safety and Health aimed at representatives of municipalities and municipal districts of the Dominican Republic.
Event Objectives
● The initiative aimed to strengthen the technical and institutional capacities of those responsible for managing municipal personnel, providing them with tools and knowledge for the correct application of occupational risk prevention regulations, the comprehensive protection of municipal workers, and the proper management of Occupational Risk Insurance.
Learning Objectives
- Promote an institutional culture of prevention within municipal administrations.
- Identify occupational hazards.
- Implement preventive measures and strengthen safer and healthier work environments for municipal employees.
Content and Structure
●Occupational Risk Insurance: benefits, coverage, and procedures for accessing services.
• Notification and registration of workplace accidents and occupational diseases.
• Occupational safety and health in local governments: protection, prevention, and well-being of employees.

Additional Information
We will continue strengthening regulatory capabilities by designing protocols and manuals on occupational safety and health. In addition, we will continue managing the acquisition of personal protective equipment (PPE).
