Background

CIFAL Istanbul engaged with the Sustainable Energy-Based Tourism Implementation Center (SENTRUM) Project to highlight its role in promoting energy-efficient, environmentally responsible, and community-centered tourism models. The project supports Türkiye’s transition toward sustainable tourism through renewable energy integration, innovation, and local capacity-building.

Learning Objectives

To advance awareness on sustainable energy solutions within the tourism sector. To encourage the adoption of low-carbon, resource-efficient tourism practices. To support local communities in developing environmentally responsible tourism infrastructures. To align with CIFAL Istanbul’s mission to promote sustainable development through education, resilience, and innovation.

Content and Structure

The project framework includes training sessions, field demonstrations, and knowledge-sharing activities focusing on renewable energy systems, sustainable tourism models, and best practices for energy efficiency. It also showcases SENTRUM’s implementation sites as examples of integrated green tourism strategies.

Methodology

A combined approach of technical training, applied demonstration, and community-based engagement was utilized. This methodology ensures both theoretical understanding and practical competency in sustainable energy applications within tourism settings.
