Background

Following the COVID-19 pandemic, many areas of the world experience massive societal impacts from poor mental health. Additionally, geopolitical conflicts cause severe depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder among and beyond individuals directly involved in the immediate areas of engagement.  The fact that access to mental health information, resources, and treatment are often limited worsens the situation for those in dire need of assistance. In this program, participants will learn what aspects of conflict resolution can be impacted by mental health, the ethical problems with conflict resolution when mental health issues arise, and tools to recognize and cope. The workshop will also provide a safe space to help participants understand how to deal with tensions when they represent another entity or must take a stance they are not comfortable with through discussions and simulations.
