Background

Held in celebration of the International Day of Innovation (April 21), this specialized workshop was co-organized by CIFAL Saudi Arabia and the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre. It aimed to build capacity in applying innovation methodologies to the humanitarian field. The session replaced a planned panel to better meet the demand for interactive, skill-building experiences that promote sustainable, high-impact humanitarian practices.

Event Objectives

•    Define innovation in the humanitarian context and distinguish it from development and improvement •    Understand the phases of humanitarian innovation from ideation to implementation •    Explore emerging technologies (e.g., AI, renewable energy, portable medical tools) and their application in humanitarian response •    Learn how to foster partnerships and access resources that support innovation in humanitarian initiatives.

Methodology
