Background

Given the high demand and limited space, each Mission is requested to send maximum one expert to the workshop.

Location: Permanent Mission of Korea to the UN.

The Expert-Level Workshop on Addressing the Threats Posed by Sea Level Rise is meant for the UN Delegates and Staff to learn relevant background on an issue of significant concern for a growing number of Member States, including those most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, such as communities in Small Island Developing States and coastal states.

The substantive workshop will bring together top experts and practitioners to share their knowledge and deep insights with representatives of Member States on particular aspects of the threats posed by sea level rise. Four thematic sessions are as follows:

  • (10:00~10:45AM) Knowledge, Data and Science
  • (10:45~11:30AM) International Law & Law of the Sea
  • (11:30~12:15AM) Culture & Heritage
  • (12:15~01:00PM) Livelihoods & Socioeconomic Impacts
