Background

Sports have always captured the global imagination. But in recent years, greater interest has been directed at the potential of sports to become a conduit for peacebuilding and diplomatic promotion, as witnessed in the Winter Olympics in South Korea, as well as the World Cups in Russia and Qatar. With increasing attention focused on the interlinkages between sports, law, and diplomacy, there is increasing demand for professionals who can understand and navigate the public disputes that marry complex issues around athletes’ rights and regulations, diplomatic issues and political statements, and the law on competition and doping.

Through a blend of theoretical insights, case studies, interactive exercises, and group discussions, this programme aims to empower professionals with the expertise needed to excel in the dynamic realm of international sports governance and diplomacy. Furthermore, the programme includes visits to iconic sports institutions and organizations that will enrich participants' understanding of international sports diplomacy and sport governance, such as the International Olympic Committee and UEFA (Union of European Football Associations).
