Accelerating SDG Implementation
Arrière plan
The Defeat-NCD Partnership is hosting a high-level panel discussion at the World Health Summit, which will bring Health Ministers from Rwanda and Myanmar together with multi-sectoral leaders from the African Union Commission, Boehringer Ingelheim, and the World Health Organization to reflect on practical solutions to bridge the trillion-dollar funding gap and find creative ways to bring about better health outcomes for NCDs.
Objectifs de l'événement
The workshop aims to provide a clear path to ‘build back better’ through COVID-19 response and recovery plans by highlighting corrective actions that can be taken to increase prevention and reduce underlying risk factors; identifying innovative structured financial products to support the mobilisation of funding; and charting a path to create a competitive and fair global market where low- and middle-income countries can access quality and fairer priced NCD drugs, diagnostics and medical devices, in order to achieve transformative universal health coverage for all.
Contenu et structure
With a focus on tackling non-communicable diseases (NCDs), against the backdrop of COVID-19, the high-level session moderated by journalist Juliette Foster features 22 panelists and speakers representing governments, multilateral institutions, development banks, humanitarian organisations, academia, philanthropic foundations and private companies.
