Arrière plan

The Workshop will focus on two main concepts: (1) develop an understanding of skills for peaceful dialogue and cooperation, and (2) learn how other countries utilize mediation through three case studies. The morning session will be primarily skills-based, and will introduce active listening, asking the right questions, and unpacking facts, interests, and feelings. The morning session will also feature a conflict resolution case study from Haiti.

In the afternoon session, we will mainly engage with the second and third case studies. The second case study focuses on community mediation in Nepal to empower disenfranchised women, and the third case study involves mediation in Syrian and Iraqi refugee camps. We will conclude with a group exercise, which will apply many of the skills from the morning session.

The Workshop will be interactive and will have classroom exercises.
