As the 42nd UN-Water Meeting host, UNITAR’s Global Water Academy remains committed to strengthening global water governance and accelerating the achievement of SDG 6 through capacity-building.
Contenu et structure
The meeting reviewed progress since the 41st UN-Water Meeting and assessed implementation of past decisions.
- Discussions were structured around the five entry points of the UN System-wide Strategy for Water and Sanitation, covering collective action, country engagement, policy alignment, SDG 6 acceleration, and accountability.
- Participants considered updates and draft decisions on Priority Collaborative Actions (PCAs), the SDG 6 Synthesis Report 2026, World Water Day 2026, and preparations for the 2026 UN Water Conference.
- The programme combined information sessions and decision-making segments.
- Day 1 focused on strategic and programmatic discussions in an open session.
- Day 2 included a high-level Member States Briefing and Dialogue, followed by a closed session addressing governance, partnerships, finances, budget allocations, and adoption of decisions.
