Contexte

The University of Newcastle is a sector leader in the enrolment, employment, and achievement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. It builds on these foundations by fostering culturally responsive and inclusive practices across its campuses and regional footprint.

A foundational element of this commitment is the development of the University of Newcastle Cultural Capability Training which is delivered to all fixed-term and ongoing staff. The training has been collaboratively co-designed with representatives from Awabakal, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Darkinjung communities, and has been highly effective in increasing the cultural knowledge and understanding of staff at the University.

Due to the powerful impact of this training and understanding that we have an important role in supporting the broader community, we are proud to offer the cultural capability training package for other organisations to engage with.
